There are a lot of myths about getting older; most of us know the stereotypical little old man or little old lady who can barely see or hear. That stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth in most cases. Older folks all over the country are enjoying active lives into their 70s and 80s. The following tips will help you be a person who is living healthy and growing older gracefully.

Try ingesting some Resveratrol. Diets that restrict calories have been shown to have positive outcomes when it comes to aging. Resveratrol can provide some of the same benefits. It’s found commonly in nuts and grapes. Resveratrol is also found in the roots of Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica or Polygonum cuspidatum), which is often a resveratrol source in supplements. Another source of resveratrol is the roots of the South American shrub Senna quinquangulata.



Always learn new information to keep an active mind. The old are the wisest and you should continue your path to intelligence. You could take a course at a local community college or just read lots of books on what really interests you. What’s important is that you are always alert and thinking.

Do not dwell on your nonessential numbers in life. Doctors are paid well to focus on things like your weight and your height. If you worry about your age, weight, and if you are getting shorter, you will ruin your chance of experiencing aspects of you life that bring out your younger self.

Always strive to learn new things, and embrace new experiences to keep yourself healthy and youthful. Learning is important regardless of your age.

Make sure you are receiving the appropriate amount of sleep for your particular age. If you sleep at least seven hours a night, you will be on a more even keel and not have to worry about hormone fluctuation. If you are sleep deprived you will become agitated, easily irritated and feel just plain lousy.

Try putting more into your exercise routine. When you get older you will need to be more active to stay strong. Exercise can be simple, like taking a daily walk. Do strength training twice a week as well. Varied activities keep you fit and better able to ward off disease.

Personalize your home to make it your own. Even when we’re older, life circumstances can cause us to depart from the place we believed we were going to call home forever. If you have moved to a new place, decorate and surround yourself with things that feel comfortable.

Powder makeup and foundation plays a big role in making your skin look older. So try to avoid using it. Since hydration is even more important to your skin as you getting older, this type of makeup gets even worse for your skin the older you get. Try basing your makeup on less intrusive products like eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss.

You can enjoy life even more than when you were young. If you take these tips to heart, you can live well even when your get up there in years.
